L.D. (Sauders)

type: [tree peony] – [species cultivar]

probably a plant resulting from a cross between Lutea X Delavayi made by Saunders. As these both plants are only different color variations of the species Paeonia delavayi Franchet, a cross is not a hybrid.

„Paeonia“

excerpt from a letter of Donna Linsley on 23 Jan. 1999 to the editor of 'Paeonia', published in vol. 29, No. 2, pp.4-5:

„I asked Mr. Nassos Daphnis ... what he thought L.D. stood for in the notebooks. He thought it was probably lutea X delavayi ....“ (Donald Smith)
