NANCY (White, 1954) - Single - Peach Pink - Early - Hybrid. Height 24". This triple hybrid single marks a distinct color break as its light peach pink color is found in no other peony. It has excellent plant habit and grows to a height of about 28". Its stems are heavy and the foliage is broad, light green. The filaments are dark pink and the anthers yellow. The carpels are hairy and green and the stigmas, dark pink. It makes a garden subject of great beauty. Officinalis rubra plena x Saunders 4710, which is a seedling of Mlokosewitschi x macrophylla. Bulletin 131.

NANCY DOLMAN (Vories, 1924) - Double - Pale Rose Pink - Late. Tall. Rather rand odor. Very large. Pale rose-pink of conical form, with fluted, fluffy petals, becoming pinkish white in center. Robust; floriferous, stems very stiff. Foliage good. A very handsome late sort, but the buds frequently water-log on one side, and it needs severe disbudding to produce perfect blooms. M.

NANCY NICHOLLS (Nicholls, 1941) - Double - Blush - Late Midseason. Tall. Large double of symmetrical shape. The very wide petals are fluted at the edges. Opens rosy pink which persists at the center. Strong stems, splendid habit and prolific bloomer. Beautiful in bud and in flower. (No. 116 from Yeso). Bulletin 83.

NANCY NORA (Bernstein, 1942) - Double - Soft Pink - Midseason. Medium height. Fragrance of rose geranium. (WALTER FAXON x LADY ALEXANDRA DUFF). Large full rose type flower with excellent substance. The color is pleasing clear, soft pink. Its form is good. It opens easily from storage. It has good strong stems, holding up the flowers without support. Foliage dark green. Bulletin 122.

NANETTE (Doriat, 1924) - Double - Blush-White - Midseason. A loosely built pale pink that fades to white of large size and beautiful form. This flower possesses a beauty and charm that few lovers of its type can resist. Very free blooming and vigorous. M. List in Bulletin 60.

NAN KEEN (Vories, 1942) - Double - Rose Pink - Midseason. Tall. Light rose pink. Conical shape. List in Bulletin 91.

NANTICOOK (Guppy, 1935) - Jap. - Bright Red - Bulletin 60.

NAOMI (Auten, 1933) - Double - Flesh Pink - Midseason. A very outstanding Honorable Mention double, very large, a few hidden stamens. Rich creamy flesh pink, beautifully formed. Bulletin 54.

NARA-NO-YADA (Japan) Listed by Krekler, 1955. Mr. Peyton says this is an importation from Japan, by Mr. Smirnow.

NATANIS (Guppy, 1929) - Double - Crimson - Hybrid. Tall. Fragrant. Form similar to Mons. Jules Elie. Large flower. Pistils, pink stigmas, green styles and ovaries. Vigorous, floriferous. Albiflora x officinalis. Bulletin 92.

NATHALIE (Saunders, 1939) - Semi-Double - Pink - Hybrid. Magnificent flat bloom, semi-double or more. Intense clear rose smooth-edged petals. Brilliant salmon rose. Albiflora x lobata. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 129. Saunders 1955 catalog.

NAUBUNISHISKI (Origin unknown) - Single - White, streaked crimson. Dwarf. Midseason.

NAUGHTON (Kelsey, 1938) - Jap. - Blush - Midseason. Small blush Japanese; staminodes yellow at base, white at tips, narrow. Carpels green tipped pink. Wild's 1955 catalog.

NAUVOO (Auten, 1937) - Double - White - Late. Fragrant. Blush white with deeper tints in the center. High built bloom, and of show quality. A wonderful peony. Bulletin 69.

NEBRASKA (Sass, 1939) - Double - White - Late. Tall. Pure white, large. Very good. List in Bulletin 91.

NEHOIDEN (Origin unknown) - Double - Pink. Not a true variety, an old sort renamed. M.

NEHUMKEAG (Guppy, 1935) - Single - Bright Red. Bulletin 60.

NEKO-WAT (Origin unknown) - Jap. - Red, intermixed with white. Midseason.

NELLIE (Kelway, 1915) - Single - Blush - Midseason. Dwarf. Bitter odor. Medium to large. Two rows of undulated petals, rose-pink at first, fading almost white; small tuft of yellow stamens in center; carpels ruddy green; dark rose tips and pink kernels at base; floriferous; stems stiff; blooms in clusters. Foliage narrow and wavy. M.

NELL SHAYLOR (Shaylor, 1919) - Double - White and gold. Midseason.

NEON (Nicholls, 1941) - Jap. - Pink - Midseason. Large. Petals and staminodes are light rose-pink and do not fade. The staminodes are tipped and edged with gold and form a large hemisphere. Wide petals. Very bright. (No. 208 from Ama-no-sode) Wild's 1955 catalog says midseason. Bulletin 83.

NE PLUS ULTRA (Miellez, 1856) - Double - Pink - DISCARDED. Midseason.

NEPTUNE (Dessert, 1905) - Double - White - Midseason.

NEPTUNE (Terry) - Jap. - Pink - DISCARDED - Midseason.

NEVADA (Auten, 1950) - Single - Red - Hybrid. Very tall. A very spectacular black red single. The color holds. On a plant exceptional vigor, with stiff stems. Officinalis x albiflora. List in Bulletin 129.

NEW DELIGHT (Neeley, 1930) - First called ECHO. Double - Pink - Midseason. Light fuffy pink. Large. List in Bulletin 91.

NEW ERA (Franklin, 1939) - Double - White - Midseason. Tall. A pure white Mons. Jules Elie rounded guard petals on which a large white mum rests. Guards are prominent as the flower opens, but the central bomb heightens and expands to form an almost perfect Elie in white. Stems stiff. List in Bulletin 76 and 91.

NICK SHAYLOR (Allison, 1931) - Double - Light Pink - Late. Medium long stems. Not fragrant. Full rose type. Same coloring as Solange with a little more pink than that variety. Blooming season very late. Large bloom with clean buds that always open well. Stiff stems. Foliage, dark green. Unlike Solange, roots are clean and well shaped. A very reliable bloomer. Bulletin 47.
