NIGHT WATCH (Saunders, 1950) - Formerly VIKING. Semi-double. Dark Red - Hybrid. Anomala seedling. List in Bulletin 129.

NIGRICANS (Origin unknown) - Double - Purplish Crimson - Midseason.

NIHONJI (Millet, 1926) - Jap. - Garnet-Red - Midseason.

NIMBUS (Andrews, 1923) - Double - White - Late to very late. Rose type, color white, deepening at center to palest blush buff; calyx and outer petals greenish. Strong erect, free bloomer. Bulletin 22.

NINA BOEHLAND (Boehland ?) - Double - Pink. Shown by A. L. Murawska, Bulletin 102, page 21. Listed by Mission Gardens, 1956 catalog.

NINA SECOR (Secor, 1922) - Double - White - Midseason. Average height. Bitter fragrance, moderate. Medium to large. Pure white, with yellow glow in depths; petals very smooth and firm, built into a rounded, semi-globular form with a tulip-like center, fine crimson edge on a few central petals, and the guards petals are splashed with maroon; moderate, bitter fragrance. Floriferous, crooked stems, bearing flowers in clusters. Foliage narrow, incurved, dark green. A flower of glorious form in all stages, but needs careful disbudding to bring it to exhibition size, and the stems need support. M.

NINON (Doriat, 1925) - Double - Pink - Midseason. The flower is large, of excellent form and color that is rarely found, being a light pink with a distinctly reddish tinge. List in Bulletin 60.

NIOBE (Krelage, 1908) - Double - Pink - Midseason.

NIOBE (Origin unknown) - Jap. - Red – Midseason.

NIPPON BEAUTY (Auten, 1927) - Jap. - Red - Late. A deep red Jap, practically free from any objectionable cast. The petals, petaloids and tips of carpels all the same shade. Tips of petaloids flushed and edged yellow. Tips hardly incurved, giving a special finish to the flower. This is the variety that won the Brand Peony Farms special $100 prize for a new Japanese variety of special merit and worthy of introduction. M. Bulletin 33.

NIPPON BRILLIANT (Auten, 1933) - Jap. - Red - Late. Tall. Brilliant rich red Jap. typical center with plenty of yellow. Large bloom. Extra fine. Bulletin 54.

NIPPON CHIEF (Auten, 1931) - Jap. - Dark Red - Late. Tall. Large dark red Jap. yellow on center petaloids. Stiff stems; color very fine, one of the latest Japs. Bulletin 47.

NIPPON GOLD (Auten, 1929) - Jap. - Pink - Late. Tall. Purest golden yellow center of narrow crinkled petals. Guards pink, extra fine for cutting. Bulletin 39.

NIPPON MAID (Auten, 1931) - Jap. - Dark Red - Late. Medium to dwarf in height. Very distinct, typical center, medium sized bloom on slender stiff stems. Bulletin 47.

NIPPON PARADE (Auten, 1935) - Jap. - Red - Midseason. Medium height. A red Jap. bright and cheerful, deep red with center flushed lighter. Distinct. Bulletin 61.

NIPPON PRINCESS (Auten, 1931) - Jap. - Pink. A typical Jap of most unusual shade of bright cerise pink, the pink and yellow center very unique. Honorable Mention and winner of Home Achievement Medal at 1931 National Peony Show in competition with over 250 new seedlings. Bulletin 47.

NIPPON RED (Auten, 1931) - Jap. - Red - DISCARDED. Medium height. A rich solid red Jap, a few petaloids occasionally tipped yellow. Good stem and carriage. Bulletin 47 and list 91.

NIPPON SPLENDOR (Auten, 1931) - Jap. - Red - Midseason. Tall. A glorious deep red Jap., heavy yellow markings in center. Fine plant. Bulletin 47.

NIPPON TRIUMPH (Auten, 1937) - Jap. - Red. Red Jap, best described as a much improved Mikado Larger blooms on better stems, better color, lighter than Nippon Brilliant. Bulletin 69.

NIPPON WARRIOR (Auten, 1933) - Jap. - Red - Midseason. Fine red Jap, center red tipped yellow. Stiff stems. Bulletin 54.

NISHO-NO-SHITONE (Origin unknown) - Jap. - Midseason.

NITTA (Barr) - Double - White, marked crimson - Midseason.

NIVALIS (Buyck, 1840) - Double - Pink, yellow center. DISCARDED. Midseason.

NIVEA PLENISSIMA (Makey, 1840) - Double - White, flushed carmine. DISCARDED - Midseason.

NOBILISSIMA (Miellez, 1858) - Double - White, flushed carmine. Midseason.

NOBILITY (Van Leeuwen, 1929) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Medium height. Globular double of good bright pink. Good form; good stems. Wild's 1955 catalog.

NOEL (Kelsey, 1935) - Double - Red - Midseason. Very tall. Very large 7" blooms, perfectly finished. This is a red double as good as many and better than most. Color clear, but intense. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 109.

NOEMIE DEMAY (Calot, 1867) - Double - Pink - DISCARDED - Midseason.

NOKOMIS (Franklin, 1920) - Double - Pink. Fragrant. Medium size, light pink, central petals overlapping but showing golden stamens mixed with dark vermilion-red. Midseason.

NOME (Auten, 1945) - Jap. - White - Very Early. Probably the earliest, and with the fine points of the others. Date from Auten's letter, 1955. Auten's 1955 catalog.
