Paeonia 'Margaret Logie'

type: [herbaceous peony] – [species cultivar] – [lactiflora]

Brian Porter (2004)

Margaret Logie is an unregistered peony of Canadian origin. Information from Reiner Jakubowski of Waterloo, Ontario, is that the APS Bulletin 144 (1957) indicates that it is one from the breeding work of James Keagey. It is growing in the Devonian Botanic Garden, University of Alberta peony collection. I photographed it there in 2001, thinking it might be a misspelled Margaret Lough, as at the time I was unaware of the Keagey peonies. No one has located an official description for it, so I don't know if the bloom is typical. As I recall it was the only bloom open on the plant, and I don't think the plant was going to bloom well that year. So I don't know if the nearly single to semi-double form is normal, or whether it has more petals when fully established. I haven't been back to the Devonian Botanic Garden since then.
