EDITH SCOVELL (Franklin, 1928) - Double - Rose Color - Late. Very large, rose type. Compact. Resembles a rose in bud and blossoms. Stiff, strong stems. Bulletin 35, and 36.

EDITH WEST (Brand, 1920) - Single - White - Early. White with some pink tones. This is much like some other singles. A good flower and large. List in Bulletin 130.

EDMOND (Barr) - Double - Blush-Rose - M.

EDMOND ABOUT (Crousse, 1885) - Double - Pink - Late Midseason. Medium height. Fragrant. Large. Light shell-pink, with rose tints in the center, which is often flecked with crimson. Stiff upright stems. Flowers in clusters, producing well-shaped blooms, flat in form, with many compact petals.

EDMOND LEBON (Calot, 1864) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Dwarf. Fragrance, not notable. Large, dark pink of a luminous tone, becoming silvery at the center with age; floriferous; stout stems. Good foliage. Too light to be red, and too dark to be pink, having little or no blue. The center is rounded and somewhat of the globular type. M.

EDNA (Winchell, 1941) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Fragrance pleasing. Large, fine light pink, well formed flower on stiff stems. Bulletin 83.

EDOUARD ANDRE (Mechin, 1874) - Double - Crimson - DISCARDED - M.

EDOUARD DORIAT (Doriat, 1929) - Double - Pink Late. Vivid salmon pink with stamens. Manual supplement. List in Bulletin 91.

EDULIS ALBA (1835) - Double - White - DISCARDED - M.

EDULIS SUPERBA (Lemon, 1824) - Double - Pink - Early. Tall. Very fragrant. Medium size. Guard and center petals bright old-rose pink, with a collar of distinctly lighter narrow petals. Usually develops a crown as the flower ages. Extremely floriferous; with excellent foliage and rather bending stems. A very old, tried and true variety, largely planted for its very early bloom.  Also a popular and desirable commercial variety widely grown for cut flowers. "Does exceedingly well in heavy soils and should rate much higher." Boyd. M.

EDWARD (Lyman, 1939) - Single - Red. Black-red full stamen, 3 rows guard petals, whitish carpels coral tipped, reddish stems. Stunning in color, form and atmosphere. Strong and abundant in bloom. It is not inclined to fade, and keeps clear color. Bulletin 81.

EDWARD ANDRE (Mechin, 1874) - Spelled EDOUARD ANDRE. - Double - Red - DISCARDED.

EDWARD F. FLYNN (Brand, 1942) - Double - Red - Late. Brilliant dark red. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 130.

EDWARD STEICHEN (Saunders, 1941) - Semi-Double - Red - Hybrid. Magnificant dark red. The finest of this strain. Albiflora x officinalis. List in Bulletin 129.

EDWARD VII (Unknown) - Single - Red. Shown Bulletin 76, Page 8 as a Jap. - M.

EDWARD W. BECKER (Franklin, 1920) - Semi-double - Pink to white. Midseason. Medium tall. Slight fragrance. A loose large flower of rather flat form that opens delicate light pink, shading to white; outer petals broad and well rounded, surrounding a scant center of irregular petals with stamens throughout the collar and the center. Vigorous; free bloomer; medium strong, graceful stems. Foliage medium green. M.

EDWIN C. SHAW (Thurlow, 1919) - Double - Pink - Late Midseason. Medium height. Delicious fragrance. Very large. Light old-rose, with flesh pink tones in center and collar, with occasional narrow red edges on outer petals; fairly floriferous; stems usually adequate. Good foliage. A well-shapped flower of cupped form with symmetrically graduated petals of translucent texture. Established plants have stiff stems and broad foliage. Good both for cutting and garden effects. M - Bulletin 8.

EDWIN FORREST (Hollis, 1904) - Double - Red - DISCARDED. M.

EEPLES (Guppy, 1922) - Double - Red - Hybrid. Bright red, almost vermilion. Broad guard petals. Center of narrow petals of same color interspersed with stamens having red filaments and yellow anthers striped red. Brilliant flower. Albiflora x officinalis. Bulletin 92.

EEWEE (Guppy, 1932) - Single - Red - Hybrid. Deep red. Two rows of petals. Stamens. Yellow anthers. Pistils, red stigmas, cream styles and ovaries. Tall and vigorous. Albiflora x officinalis. Bulletin 92.

E. F. KELSEY  (Kelsey, 1936) - Double - White - Midseason. (Bulletin 91 said  1941) Originally named REUNION . See ERNEST F. KELSEY. Very large. A full white with fine, strong stems. Extra fine quality bloom. Being his namesake, Mr. Kelsey must have had a high regard for this one. List in Bulletin 109, 91, Bulletin 86, page 27.

E. G. HILL (Lemoine, 1906) - Double - Deep Rose - Midseason. Klehm's 1955 catalog says Mid.

EGLANTINE (Dessert, 1913) - Single - Pink - Midseason. Medium tall. Poor fragrance. Large. Long, oval light flesh-pink petals, paling to white, with a cluster of small yellow stamens and green carpels with vivid pink tips and base; flushed darker pink on the reverse of the petals. Erect plant, with well-set foliage. A desirable landscape variety. The distinctive feature of this variety is thepink flush at the center of the petals after the edges have paled to silvery white. It is never white except at the last stage before the petals fall. M.

EGYPT (Rish, 1929) - Single - Red - Early. Medium height. Medium size. Very dark red with a darker sheen. Stems quite straight. Good foliage and stems. Blooms freely. Bulletin 39.

EGYPTIAN (Brant, 1941) - Jap. - Red. Rich maroon. Two rows of guard petals. Center of fine petaloids, striped white and tipped yellow. Carpels white, tipped red. SOME GANOKO seed. Bulletin 83.

E. J. SHAYLOR (Shaylor, 1918) - Double - Pink - L. Midseason. Medium height. Good, rose-like fragrance. Large. Dark rose-pink, the petals tipped with lilac; globular form, the outer petals incurved over a hollow center of many stamens and petaloids with yellow edges; good rose-like fragrance. Strong, upright growth; moderately floriferous. Good stems and foliage. M.
