ENCHANTMENT (Hollis, 1907) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Medium height. Moderate fragrance. Large. Dull old-rose with shell-pink glow at the center, becoming more luminous and softer tints with age; edges of the petals slightly silvered; rounded at first but opens very flat, showing stamens and a broad wheel-like crown. Vigorous growth; moderately floriferous, but the stems are weak. A variety which is too irregular in its performance to be really good. M.

ENFANT DE NANCY (Crousse, 1896) - Double - Pink - DISCARDED. M.

ENGLISH ELEGANCE (Kelway, 1929) - Double - Pink. Delicate flesh pink flowers, large, blooming in clusters. Like an enormous dog rose. Plant of good habit. Bulletin 38.

ENSIGN MORIARTY (Lins) - Double - Pink - Late Midseason. Very large full double heavy bloom on very strong stems which hold the great bloom perfectly erect. Color is medium dark pink blending lighter pink on petal edges. Fine garden plant and a great exhibition flower. Has won Champion Ribbon in dark pink class. Blooms late midseason and is good every year. Listed in Bulletin 122.

ENTENTE CORDIALE (Riviere, 1917) - Double - Pink - M.

ENTICING (Hruby, 1955) - Double - Pink - Late. Large, somewhat like MRS. LIVINGSTON FARRAND. Strong, stiff stems, good foliage and substance. No stamens show. Bulletin 138.

EPICTETUS (Origin unknown) - Single - Rose-pink - M.

EREBUS (Saunders, 1938) - Single - Red - Hybrid. Very dark mahogany red with bright yellow stamens. Albiflora x officinalis. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 129.

ERIC THE RED (Pillow, 1924) - Single - Dark Red - Bulletin 21.

ERNEST F. KELSEY (Kelsey, 1941) - See. E. F. Kelsey - Double - White - Midseason. Very large full stems. Extra good quality. List in Bulletin 91.

ERNEST HUTCHINSON (Kelsey, 1935) - Double - Pink - Late. Rose pink. Large 8" bloom. Row of broad petals open horizontally below a high built ball of closely packed, finely cut petals, twisted and intertwined in a compact ball. List in Bulletin 109.

ERNEST JARDINE (Kelway, 1909-10) - Double - Cherry-Red - M.

ERNEST V. TAYLOR (Kelway, 1923-25) - Double - Pink - M.

EROS (Glasscock, 1940) - Single - Salmon Pink - Early - Hybrid. Medium sized light salmon pink or coral pink with yellow stamens and green carpels tipped pink. Albiflora x officinalis. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 129.

E. S. MINOT - Double- Light Pink.

ESTAFETTE (Dessert, 1910) - Double - Pink - Early. 1930 Wild catalog; Good sized, globular blooms of carmine with silvery light. Very early. M.

ESTELLE (Lyman, 1933) - Single - Pink. Very large, pale wild rose pink. Large group of golden stamens. Strong. Bulletin 55.

ESTHER MITTENDORFF (Lanigan, 1944) - Double - Light rose pink. Midseason. Large. Light rose pink, paling at tips of petals. Floriferous; slightly fragrant. Moderately tall, good stems and foliage. Bulletin 96.

E. ST. HILL (Kelway) - Single - Pink - Early. Large single, many flowers measuring 8 1/2“ across. Deep rose pink, shaded white at the edges with yellow center. Well formed flowers borne on tall, upright stems well above the foliage. Resembles Nellie. M. Bulletin 38.

E. T. COOK (Kelway) - Double - Pink - M.

ETENDARD DU GRAND HOMME (Mielles, 1955) - Double - Rose - DISCARDED. M.

ETHEL HALSEY (Hans P. Sass, 1952) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Medium pink. Large flat flower with tall, strong stems that withstand storms well. Glossy green foliage. Full double. Named for Mrs. Clifford Kaufman, Colt's Neck, New Jersey. Bulletin 124.

ETHEL MARS (Murawska, 1943) - Semi-Double - White - Midseason. Formerly named MARS. Medium height. An excellent white with some pink tints. Good stems. Medium sized flowers. Bulletin 92. Murawska list.

ETHEREAL (Jones, 1938) - Double - Blush. 42" high. Deliciously fragrant. Huge blooms. Plant very vigorous and foliage dark green. Unfolds a delicate blush pink, slowly but easily into a symmetrical rose type bloom, with the petals the texture of crepe paper. Exceptionally long lasting as cut flower. A beautiful peony. Bulletin 71.

ETIENNE BRULE (Brethour, 1934) - Double - White. Strong growing, large flower, quite similar to Solange. Opens well and holds its color. Quite distinctive.  Note: Etienne Brule was the first white man to visit the spot where Toronto now stands. Bulletin 56.

ETIENNE MECHIN (Mechin, 1880) - Double - Red - DISCARDED - M.

ETOILE BLANCHE - See ISANI GIDUI - Jap. - White - M.

ETTA (Terry, 1904) - Double - Pink - Late. Medium height. Rose fragrance. Large, old-rose-pink with flesh-pink center, outer petals pale at base and marked with green; floriferous; weak stems. Average foliage. Symmetrical, brightly colored flowers with dentated, fully developed petals throughout, making a bloom of impressive size and substance. Its poor stems are a defect in the garden but it is a good cut flower. M.

EUCHARIS (Lemoine, 1909) - Double - White - Late. 1930 Wild catalog: Fragrant, creamy white, of large size and globular shape. Late. M.

EUGENE BIGOT (Dessert, 1894) - Double - Red - Late. Medium height. Fragrance pleasant, but weak Crimson with violet tinge, brightened by slightly silvery tips and numerous yellow stamens. Floriferous; stems stiff. Foliage good. Good at times but frequently ragged, and a half-developed globular shape. Generally classed among the good reds. M.
